Inscribe on Zcash
Commit data permanently onto the Zcash transparent pool. Names are first-come, first-served; text and images become transferable, tradeable ordinals.
How it works
What exactly does claiming a .zcash name give me?+
An inscription on Zcash that reads zcash with your label. It binds to a specific output in a transparent transaction, and whoever holds that output holds the name. There is no company in the middle: nothing has to be renewed and nothing can be revoked.
Who owns a name if two people claim the same one?+
Whoever the chain confirms first. The indexer reads blocks in order, so the earliest claim in an earlier block — and then the earliest within a block — owns the name permanently. A later claim on the same label is still inscribed and still costs its fee, but confers nothing.
Where does the background art come from?+
From the hash of the block your claim landed in. That hash does not exist until the block is mined and cannot be chosen in advance, so the artwork is a fact about where on the chain your claim settled. The label is mixed in as well, so two names in the same block still get different pictures.
Can I use emoji in a .zcash name?+
Yes. Emoji names and mixed names work. Emoji are counted as single characters, so a name built from them can be up to 32 of them long.
What does claiming a .zcash name cost?+
A platform service fee of 0.0001 ZEC plus the network fee, which the chain keeps. Some names such as zcash.zcash and admin.zcash are reserved and refused, because a claim on them is worth more to a phisher than to whoever pays for it.
Do I need a special wallet to claim a .zcash name?+
No. Every wallet that can send ZEC can claim a name, because the claim is written by a sponsored relay rather than by your wallet — you pay the relay, the relay signs the inscription, and the name is assigned to your address.
